YAO Sunday Brunch, Garden Grill
6/26/'05

A full contingent of hungry YAOians converged on The Garden Grill on India Street on a fine, sunny Sunday. This was much to the pleasure of the proprietor, who made sure to pass out his cards and tell us that we could call ahead and reserve a room upstairs and get our orders pre-made. Little did he know we were actually a Mafia Youth organization. The food was certainly nothing to complain about, and we enjoyed falafel and other mediterranean dishes, as well as lively conversation (my favorite part).

The acoustics, however, could leave one thinking that your companion across the table had been talking about how he changed from from being an atheist to starting a cult on the moon, when in fact he was relating how he changed his tire on the freeway Tuesday.

Blake with a creative solution to the problem of the waiter not being able to see the numbers. They don't allow this at the Christian fundamentalist church brunches down the street, which is why he joined the UU.

After the meal many of us stood out in front, where we could actually hear each other, and talked. Getting to know new friends, having fun and connecting with our community is what it boils down to, if it can be boiled down. A nice stew in any case.

NAMASTE,
Eric
